After the great success of Áras Éanna’s ‘Curracha’ exhibition which saw 21 artists decorate 21 currachs displayed throughout the island during the Covid restrictions of the summer of 2021, Áras Éanna have plans to hold an outdoor exhibition on Inis Oírr on a bi-annual basis.

The fishermen of Inis Oírr did a coastal clean up of the island gathering washed up nets, broken fish crates and an abundance of sea buoys. The idea was formed to re-purpose these buoys as pieces of Art.

20 Artists including established names, emerging artists and artists from diverse backgrounds are tasked in decorating these buoys that will be on display in the open air during the summer.

This is a fantastic way in exhibiting Art that also showcases the scenic beauty of Inis Oírr
