Philip Jacobsen spent some of his childhood living on Inis Oírr and has been a frequent visitor to the island since. Inis Oírr is one of the great loves of his life. Philip has a deep respect for the island, it’s people and it’s unique landscape.
The Plassey has been an important part of the landscape over the last 50 plus years. Over this time Philip has witnessed the changes in the Plassey and its gradual demise and wanted to preserve it and it’s memory in art form. During frequent walks Philip picked up broken away pieces and saw in the rusty discards a potential canvas. Using only the naturally broken off fragments of the ship that time and Mother Nature offered up, Philip has created these unique and once-off pieces.
