Ushmush + Súil Amháin

Inis + Inis Oírr MC and producer Ushmush and Listowel rapper Súil Amháin have performed at Beyond The Pale, Féile na Bealtaine, Féile Dorn San Aer and Féile na Gealaí. Ushmush recently featured on the acclaimed producer Rory Sweeney’s debut album, and he also produces for Lewis Doyle Singer. With years of experience in the music scene in the southwest, and a playful ‘dúchas’ fostered by his Aran Island roots and absorption in Caribbean music, Ushmush and Súil Amháin have together transformed the energy of their live shows. Together they bring what can only be described, respectfully, as Big Spailpín Energy.

‘Súil Amháin’ is a rapper and poet from Kerry. Initially recognized for his poetry output (Séamus Barra Ó Súilleabháin), winning the All-Ireland poetry slam in 2011. Since 2020, he performs solely with live hip hop instrumentals. Súil Amháin’s debut album athPhORT(2024), produced by Bantum, won the Gradam Nós Irish language Album of the Year. Often drawing from a deep well of song and storytelling, traditional language is subverted and realigned in charismatic off-kilter flows delivered on a landscape of 808s and obscure archival samples.
