DESCRIPTION:A representative of Margot’s work which is  about the ordinary everyday and can be anything from a pile of washing up to some bizarre models or a newspaper headline. \nMargot is an Irish visual artist based in Co Leitrim. She completed a fine Art degree in London Guildhall university in 1995 and is presently working full time from her shop/studio in Carrick on Shannon Co. Leitrim. She had exhibited in many group shows in Ireland and the UK and has has 9 solo exhibitions. She is a sister of the famous Inis Oírr based musician Pat Quinn whose hit song ‘I hate politicians ‘ was recorded by Christy Moore.

The band immediately bonded and it wasn’t before long TRODA was born.  In a short space of time the band has excelled\, playing as guests with the likes of Sharon Shannon. DESCRIPTION:Singer of the Year TG4 Gradam Cheoil 2019. \nOne of the most exciting and moving voices singing today\, you would stand in the snow to listen to Thomas sing. Thomas comes from a well-known musical Irish Traveller family who kept the tradition of singing strong. He is the grandson of a renowned seanachie and grew up surrounded by the singing of his late mother\, her father and aunts and uncles. McCarthy is also a passionate activist on behalf of his people and is an ambassador for traveller singing and traveller song.\nThomas has a unique ability to connect with his audience and is described by Gradam Cheoil as captivating “This singer has a voice of great strength\, tone\, character and beauty. \nHis technique is a joy to listen to. His art is particularly illustrative of the power of storytelling through song\, beyond simply singing the song. His style of presentation\, of narrative and history before and around the song\, is captivating. He has a unique ability to connect with his audience. On top of that\, he carries with him that distinctive style of singing – a movement in the longer notes – known as ‘the warble’.

DESCRIPTION:The Murphy Beds (Jefferson Hamer and Eamon O’Leary) present traditional and original folk songs with close harmonies and deft instrumental arrangements on bouzouki\, guitar\, and mandolin. They have performed and collaborated with artists across the folk spectrum including Beth Orton\, Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy\, Anais Mitchell\, and Sam Amidon. \nThe duo have been performing together for some years and share an interest in collecting\, arranging and performing songs from Irish\, American\, Scottish and English traditions. An Eskies show is steeped in melodrama and usually not a small amount of tongue in cheek.

It explores collected stories\, interviews\, personal memorabilia\, and fragments of memories of Una\, as a means of peeling back the layers of myth-making and finding the real person beneath. Una’s life speaks to wider concerns of finding a sense of identity and belonging\, how we read isolation\, eccentricity and mental illness\, and how we demystify these.\nThe piece incorporates live music performance from Anna Mullarkey and video design by Jennifer Cunningham.\nAudience Age Range: 14+\nSupported by the Arts Council\, Galway City Council\, Galway County Council and Galway Theatre Festival.

DESCRIPTION:As part of FRESH STREET#3 day\, 250 International delegates will visit Inis Oírr for the day for a series of site specific events held throughout the Island. These include an art work at O’Brien’s Castle by Deana Kolenčíková (Czech Republic/Slovakia)\, who will be here for two days gathering maps from memory\, with the wider public for the installation. \nÁras Éanna artists in residence contemporary juggling duo Kate Boschetti and Liam Wilson (Italy/Scotland) will present a work in progress inspired by the Island in a location near Tobar Éanna. (3-4pm) \nThe final piece (6-7pm) beside Tigh Ned’s is by Galway based company Turas Theatre Collective with their show ‘Remnants’. A deeply moving piece about migration and journeys. \nWe hope you will join them on their journey around the wonderful Inis Oírr. \nInternational Seminar for the Development of Street Arts co-organised by Circostrada (European Network for Circus and Street Arts)\, ARTCENA (the French National Resource Centre for Circus\, Street Arts and Theatre) in partnership with Galway 2020 and the Irish Street Arts\, Circus and Spectacle Network (ISACS).
