The Amadán in Me

Páraic Breathnach is the quintessential “Man from the West” who has ploughed a unique furrow in the Cultural life of the Galway and the west. Starting his career as a high energy street performances with Macnas and then on to the stage and screen Breathnach has been performing and telling stories all his life. The new show “The Amadán in Me” sees Breathnach in the more sedate environment of the Comedy stage. The show unfolds in a style that is part Variety show/ Parish Fundraiser/ with the Compère Breathnach orchestrating the event that includes audience participation. a raffle, spot prizes, a quiz and a raft of often hilarious stories of Amadáns and their adventures.

The stories are part biographical, some where the hero Breathnach turns out to be a right eejit and other stories describe the true nature of Amadáns and the various species and subspecies of eejits that are found in the west. The full amadán, the half amadán and both sides of an amadán are explained and illustrated in comic detail. The show offers an insight into the tragic comedy of daft events finding humour and laughter even in the most miserable of circumstances.
