Cúirt Cheoil na mBan – A traditional Irish music festival celebrating women and non-binary singers, dancers and musicians for the communities of Inis Oírr and Inis Meáin.
4th, 5th & 6th October 2024
What began as a one-off event for Culture Night in 2022, Cúirt Cheoil na mBan has now grown into a 3-day festival that happens at the end of the tourist season on two of the Aran Islands. This Irish language festival puts a focus on women and non-binary Traditional Irish musicians and aims to revive the traditional social nights that people would have hosted in their homes long ago.
People across both islands will open their homes to host sessions throughout the weekend. There will be concerts and céilís in the local halls and late night sessions in the local pubs. There will also be a bilingual talk by Niamh Ní Charra – Mná an Cheoil: 100 years of Women in Irish Traditional Music.
Over 20 musicians, singers and dancers are involved including:

Cúirt Cheoil na mBan is co-produced by Emma O’Grady and Áras Éanna, with support from the Arts Council, Ealaín na Gaeltachta, Galway County Council, Pleanáil Teanga Inis Meáin, Pleanáil Teanga Inis Oírr, Comhlacht Forbartha Inis Meáin and Comhan Caomhán Teo.
