Art Classes

From October to March, Áras Éanna holds weekly Art classes in drawing and painting. The classes are focused on observational drawing and develops into the use of colour and painting. After six months of weekly classes we produce an exhibition that’s on show in our Gallery until the end of April.

Camera Club

The camera club gets together to learn and share photographic knowledge. We organise field trips on the island to expand our knowledge whether we are trying to capture the fantastic Atlantic or going out on a night shoot. We have guest photographers that visit and hold workshops with our club. The camera club meets sporadically between October and March.

SÚP AGUS SÓP

11th-17thJan 2020 with one advance prep day

A week of collaboration and craic with Ros na Rún storyliner and actor Sorcha Fox and Ros na Rún actor Marie Bheag Breathnach.

Daily, live soap opera where the characters and scenarios are invented by a cast (established actors/new actors and people interested in set/costume/props on the island)

An advance day where we meet up, see who is interested in the different disciplines and settle on our list of characters – we go away with homework for locations and storylines.

The first day (Sat 11th  Jan 2020), we brainstorm with what we have, that night Sorcha and Marie Bheag storyline the first episode giving a short outline for each scene. The next day it is rehearsed by the group in the morning and performed live at lunchtime as the audience are served soup! After the show we take feedback from the audience about what they would like to see happen in the next ‘episode’, we storyline that night and it happens all over again the following day.

What would be required is a dedicated group who would be willing to meet before the week in question, would be up for some improvisation, chaos and craic and commit to being involved for the week.
